Healthy Choices: How We Perceive Medical RisksIf you’ve ever debated whether or not to get a flu shot, chances are you weighed the risks of the shot with the benefits. Our decisions regarding such medical issues are heavily influenced by our perceptions of risk and consequences. Psychologist Gretchen Chapman probes how our minds work when we make medical decisions for ourselves and our loved ones.
Gretchen Chapman, Chair and Professor, Psychology, School of Arts and Sciences Professor Chapman’s research focuses on medical decisions, especially those involving vaccinations. With funding from the National Science Foundation, she explores how people make decisions about their own health care and on behalf of someone else. She is also studying decisions concerning the antiviral treatment for pandemic bird flu and the new vaccine that prevents cervical cancer. Register Now

Great American Football SongsAlthough not Bach or Beethoven, the composers of American college fight songs have inspired millions over the years, creating institutional unity and spurring young athletes to victory. Join Dean George B. Stauffer as he examines some great football songs, with examples provided by the Rutgers University Glee Club under the direction of Patrick Gardner.
George B. Stauffer, Dean and Professor, Mason Gross School of the Arts Dean Stauffer is well known for his scholarship on the music of the Baroque era, particularly the life and works of J.S. Bach. He has authored and edited several books, including Bach: The Mass in B Minor and The World of Baroque Music: New Perspectives. He has held Guggenheim and Fulbright fellowships. On November 9, 2006, Stauffer served as guest conductor of Rutgers’ marching band for "The Star-Spangled Banner" before the Scarlet Knights’ football team historic win over Louisville. Register now
